Simple geometric considerations show that to maximize the transportJcfor a given type of bulk superconductor, it is only necessary to have the individual grains in the sample oriented with maximal area of close contact with their immediate neighbors. With this guideline, a 24hyphen;meter silverhyphen;sheathed thalliumhyphen;containing superconductor of the 1223hyphen;type without longhyphen;range granular alignment has been made. It is flexible, uniform, and exhibits a transportJcof 104A/cm2at 77 K in the absence of external magnetic field. thinsp;
