During the first six months of 2001, we were just beginning to add digital to our photo mix. Eventually, we were shooting digital, 35mm, and medium-format film in approximately equal measure, and printing everything as 4x6 proofs. The operation was running smoothly―that is, until the album and reprint orders started coming in. Suddenly, life got very complicated. The problem was that when we combined color film prints with digital prints on the same album page they didn't work well together. Individually, they were fine; but side by side, they led to endless redo's and frustration.
