It has been 17 years since the concept of mpr-f (multi-variable positive real function) was introduced (ref. 1#x2013;3) and the functions have been actively investigated by many workers. Recently, the author had the opportunity of examining the applications of these functions and found that there seem to exist two limitations in the traditional theory of network synthesis which limit the applications of the functions.
