Principle of Digital Clocks

In this article, to start with, the chronological development of the digital timing systems is dealt with. Next, the basic elements of the system, namely, oscillator, divider, driver and display are explained. The function of each stage of the digital clock used actually in practice is described with the help of appropriate illustrations. The special features of digital watches vis a vis clocks bringing out the distinctions are highlighted in the text throughout. At the end, the new trend in the digital watches is given.
