The adsorption of sporidesmin by activated carbon and lignin

In vitroexperiments showed that sporidesmin is adsorbed by activated carbon. The amount of toxin adsorbed depends on the concentrations of carbon and sporidesmin. Ruminal fluid contains compounds which compete with sporidesmin for adsorption on carbon. Lignin obtained from plant sources also adsorbs sporidesmin, but is less active than carbon.
