A few mixed halomanganates(II) of the type R3(MnX2Y2)Y (where R = (C2H5)4N, (n-C3H7)4N or n-3u4N, X = Cl or Br and Y = Br or I) have been isolated from non-aqueous media. These complexes have been characterized by a few physico-chemical techniques. Molar conductance values in nitromethane solution indicate them to be 3:1 electrolytes. The room temperature magnetic moment values are 5.77-5.93 BM as expected for Mn(II) compounds with five unpaired electrons. Far IR spectra show that these compounds are double salts containing tetracoordinated Mn(II).
