Extrusion characteristics of poly(vinyl chloride)

AbstractThe general flow properties of poly(vinyl chloride) in a capillary rheometer have been compared to the flow behavior in a screw extruder. It was found that the flow behavior can be characterized by either method to within the experimental accuracy of the instruments. The viscosity of the melt in the extruder barrel was calculated from its pressure profile.
