摘要

High-temperature melt of alumina (Al sub 2 O sub 3 ) has been studied by the thermal wave technique in the wavelength range 3-8 mu m at temperatures from 2300 to 2800 K, where radiative heat transfer plays an important role in the formation of the temperature field in the sample and affects the thermal waves. A numerical model of combined radiative and conductive heat transfer in non-scattering media was applied to obtain the value of the absorption coefficient of molten alumina in an air-oxidizing ambient atmosphere. Descriptions of the experimental setup and the numerical model are presented. Data on the absorption coefficient of molten alumina have been obtained in the wavelength range 3-8 mu m at two temperatures: 2500 and 2700 K. Pion Limited, London.
