Hypoglycemia can trigger a series of maladaptive sequelae that can alter a patient's cardiovascular risk profile and possibly contribute to increased mortality (1). Diabetes is one of the 10 most costly physical health conditions (2) and hypoglycemia may have a substantial impact on daily life of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Also, it is a common complication of insulin therapy.In this paper we present an overview of the hypoglycemia data for basal insulins commonly used with a comment on a basal insulin being development.
