An investigation has been made of the cadmium (3P1) photosensitized reactions of ethylene, propylene, butenehyphen;1, and butenehyphen;2. The low quantum yields are attributed to the influence of the Cdblbnd;C bond on the actual quenching process and are not inconsistent with the data on Csngbnd;H bond strengths.
