Modern pollen rain on Stewart Island, New Zealand

The modern pollen spectra from 2 surface samples from cushion bogs above 500 m a.s.l. on Stewart Island are dominated by pollen of forest trees (mainly podocarps) which grow at lower altitudes.Nothofagus fuscatype contributes 9 and 16 of the 2 samples and is derived from mainland New Zealand. Generally, fewer derived pollen types are recorded on Stewart Island than on Antipodes and Chatham Island.
