Laser action on theB2Sgr;+1/2rarr;X2Sgr;+1/2band of HgBr at 5018 Aring;

摘要

This letter describes a new laser operating on theB2Sgr;+1/2rarr;X2Sgr;+1/2band of HgBr at 5018 Aring;. Pumping was achieved by highhyphen;intensity electronhyphen;beam excitation of highhyphen;pressure Ar/Xe mixtures containing small amounts of Hg and HBr. A lower bound to the efficiency was determined to be 0.25percnt; in an unoptimized configuration, and higher efficiency is expected.
