Response of a Regenerative Frequency Divider to an Amplitude Modulated Input

This paper examines in detail, the response of a regenerative frequency divider (RFD) to an amplitude modulated excitation. The theoretical analysis explains the #x2018;divider threshold#x2019; and #x2018;phase jump#x2019; phenomena. Experimental results presented corroborate the findings of the theoretical analysis. Application of an RFD in speech bandwidth compression is briefly discussed.
