AbstractThe corrosion behavior of Zircaloy‐4 in 1 N H2SO4with small amounts of NaF was investigated by means of radionuclide technical and electrochemical methods. In this corrosion system cladding hulls of spent fuel elements were corroded under potentiostatic control. The activity of released radionuclides was measured as a function of wall loss. From this the distribution pattern of these nuclides in the wall of the fuel hull can be calculated. Fission products show pronounced concentration profiles in the first 10 m̈m.
