The complexes of types M(LH2)(H2O)2Cl3, M(L)Cl(H20) and M(LH2)Cl2Cl.H2O M = Pr(III), Nd(III) or Sm(III); LH2= 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(hydrazone) have been synthesized by three different methods, and characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moment, infrared spectral data and thermal analysis. Seven coordinate structures have been proposed for all complexes involving coordination of pyridine nitrogen, two azomethine nitrogens, two amide oxygen atoms and the occupation of two sites by chloride or water ligands.
