In "What's Not Being Shared in Shared Decision-Making?" (July-August 2013), Meredith Stark and Joseph J. Fins quite correctly call attention to the dangers of prioritizing cost containment as the major goal of shared decision-making. As they support shared decision-making in principle, they may wish to be alert to the dangers of further muddying the waters by misstating important aspects of that practice.
