The relationship of life history attributes to toxicant tolerance in fishes

摘要

AbstractThe relationship between tolerance to toxicants and fish species longevity, maximum weight attained, and fecundity is demonstrated. It is concluded that among species longevity and maximum weight attained is negatively related to tolerance to toxicants, while fecundity is positively related to toxicant tolerance. It is also concluded that mode of action of toxicants is related to longevity and fecundity among species.
