THE GENERAL SOLUTION TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF STRESSES IN A CIRCULAR RING COMPRESSED BY TWO FORCES ACTING ALONG A DIAMETER

This paper develops the solution for the stresses in a circular ring compressed by two forces acting along a diameter. Solutions to this problem have been published before, but only for special cases. The solution presented here is general; it is valid for any ratio of inside diameter to outside diameter.
