Samuel Roger Rimmer, 1944-2008 IN MEMORIAM

Following the completion of his Ph.D. in 1975, he accepted a post-doctoral fellowship with Sam Samborski at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Cereal Research Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, using similar techniques to study stem rust resistance at the ultrastructural level in wheat lines harboring the Sr5 and Sr6 genes. Roger joined the Department of Plant Science at the University of Manitoba in 1977, first as a sabbatical replacement for Claude Bernier and then as a tenured professor in plant pathology.
