Detection of Pseudomembranous Colitis with lndium-111 Labeled Leukocyte Scintigraphy

Cytopathic effects of theClostridium difficiletoxin are responsible for the clinical and pathological manifestations of pseudomembranous colitis. The case presented here illustrates scintigraphic features associated with this entity when imaging with ln-111 labeled leukocytes. This condition should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients with significant large bowel activity present on labeled leukocyte scintiscans.
