Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis following Herpes zoster Infection in a Patient with Immunodeficiency

A 57-year-old female patient who had been treated for 7 years with cortisone because of myelophthisis, developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) 4 months after a herpes zoster infection. Cellular and humoral immunodeficiency were observed. Possible connections of herpes zoster infection and ALS are discussed.
