摘要

Magnesium phthalocyanine thin films are prepared at room temperature by vacuum sublimation. The optical absorption and reflectance spectra of the films are studied. The absorption co-efficient alpha, and the extinction co-efficient k, are directly found from the spectral data. Graph of alpha~2 vs. hv is plotted and the optical band gap of the material is calculated. Using alpha and k, the refractive index n, the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant viz. epsilon_1 and epsilon_2 are also determined.
