Thermoelectric properties of the solid solutions BaPb1-xSbxO3 with x = 0.00-0.40 were investigated in the temperature range 373' - 1073 K. The materials with x = 0.00 - 0.15 showed semi-metallic behavior. The doping with Sb atoms brought about the increase in the Fermi level. For the materials with x = 0.25 and 0.40, the valence band was fully occupied and the conduction band was partially occupied, but the electrical conductivity data suggest that the carriers behave like large-polarons due to the distortion of the PbO6 octahedra. The thermoelectric power factors were estimated to be 1 - 2 x 10(-5) W m(-1) K-2 for x = 0.00 - 0.15. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. References: 17
