摘要

The scientific development in track/train dynamics during the last fifty years is significant. Without knowledge of the real forces acting on the surface between the rolling wheel and the top of the rail, we had still walked in darkness. The dynamic instrumented wheelset technology has elucidated this area. This science made it possible to conclude accurate and statistically that rail vehicles are completely following the track. By accurate definition of track-and trainparameters it should be possible to develop mathematical models and to simulate vehicle running. Considering this it was possible al-ready 25 years ago to show coincidence between simulated figures and real recordings from instrumented wheels. The continous development in this scientific area has contributed to strengthen the railways competitive position.
