The liquid crystal (LC) prism and lens cells with a stack-layered structure are prepared using wedge-shaped and semicircle-shaped metal substrates as electrically controlled quasi-optical nullimeter-wave devices. The millimeter-wave deflection properties of the LC prism are measured at 94GHz and changes in the deflection angle by applying an external voltage can be obtained. The focusing properties of the LC lens are also investigated and its convergent effects induced by the lens-shaped configuration are observed.
