Scanning electron microscope studies on the internal structures of the stomachs of some atyid and palaemonid prawns

This paper deals with the internal structures of the stomachs of the atyid prawnsCaridina africana, Atyaephyra desmaresti desmarestiandA. d. orientalisand of the palaemonid prawnsPalaemon elegansandPalaemonetes antennarius. The various regions of the stomach are described and discussed in relation to diet.
