A 30-year-old woman underwent total thyroidectomy with bilateral neck dissection for a papillary carcinoma with lymph node metastases. Whole-body imaging with I-131 revealed radioiodine uptake in the pelvis. Ultrasound showed a well-formed 6-week-old gestational sac in the uterus. The gestational sac was found to be the cause of the false-positive I-131 scan.
