Birth Rate and Death Rate of Meghalaya (1976-2001): A Study of Trend and Its Inter-relationship

摘要

An Analysis on birth and death rates (1976-2001) of Meghalaya has been performed to examine the trend and its inter-relationship. The study reveals that in Meghalaya the death rates are less than one third of the birth rates in total and in rural population while it is one-fourth as regards to urban population. The imbalance between the birth and the death rates and migration are among the major causes of population growth in the state like in many other states in India.
