Due to the variability and importance of agricultural products produced in Mexico, like prickly-pear, vegetables, fruits, etc., a machine for cleaning and waxing such products was developed and built. The quality of the work done by the machine mustbe satisfactory for market conditions and its cost must be adequate for the economical conditions of Mexican producers. It was intended that the machine could be applied to a broad variety of crops produced in Mexico, by taking into account the conditions of quality in appearance and texture of crops. The result was a simple, low-cost machine which is currently working efficiently with crops such as tomato, cucumber and green pepper. The observed work capacity with tomato and cucumber was 5 tons per eight-hour working period, and 1.5 tons for the same period, with green-pepper crops.
