Freight rates rally

Freight rates for hauling petroleum coke on Panamax and Su- pramax vessels firmed in April. Ocean freight on major routes from the US Gulf coast firmed to the highest levels in three months. Panamax freight from the US west coast to the Euro- pean continent and the Spanish Mediterranean in May 1 was the highest in four months. And west coast freight to Japan at $22.85/mt at the end of April hit the highest point since August, according to shipbroker Clarksons in this publication.
