The 45th Annual Conference on Bioassay, Analytical and Environmental Radiochemistry (BAER) was held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (N1ST), Gaithersburg, Maryland. The location was excellent for shoppers as there was a large mall within a short walk; however, there was so much going on during the conference there was very little time left over to take advantage of this fact or of our close proximity to Washington DC. The conference was attended by approximately 207 persons from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Poland, Republic of South Korea, United Kingdom, and the USA. The quality of the presentations varied from black and white overheads to slick PC-based presentations. Slides were in the minority.
