Techniques of continent diversion continue to be developed, with encouraging results. Although each procedure has its merits, specific complications are encountered, suggesting that further objective study is required. Development of lower urinary tract reconstructive techniques along with a better understanding of vesico-urethral dysfunction has made rehabilitation of the functionally abnormal urinary tract feasible with prospects of excellent outcome. The best segment of bowel, type of antireflux procedure, and incidence and nature of complications continue to be questioned.
