Full-vectorial analysis on field distributions of higher-order mode (EH{sub}11) in optical fiber

We present a full-vectorial analysis using Fourier series expansion for numerical analysis on intensity distribution of each component of electro-magnetic field of a higher order mode EH in a step-index type optical fiber, when the refractive index difference Δn between core and cladding is changed largely. The results are compared with those by Marcuse, and the effectiveness of our numerical method for full-vectrial analysis on other arbitrary waveguide system is confirmed.
