Photonic crystals (PCs) have aroused extensive attention due to their special light manipulating properties and showed potential applications in smart windows, chemical sensors, optical devices, and memory devices. Recently, a growing research interest has been focused on the fabrication of multifunctional PCs. For example, Sailor et al. reported an amphiphilic, magnetic bifunctional PC, which could manipulate liquid droplets without microfluidic container, and its structure color provided an optical signal to distinguish different liquids.
