ON 27 March, Dassault Mirage IVA 45/BR began its long-awaited road trip from Base Aerienne 279 Chateaudun, south-west of Paris, to the Yorkshire Air Museum (YAM) at Elvington near York. The nuclear-capable strike aircraft - previously displayed at the Cite des Sciences in Paris - was gifted to the museum by the French government, the move being the culmination of nearly a decade of negotiation and work to secure the machine. It is the first time that the French government has donated a nuclear bomber to a private museum in another country.
