Tension Pneumocephalus After Transsphenoidal Resection of a Thyrotropin lpar;TSHrpar;hyphen;Secreting Pituitary Adenoma

We describe a rare case in whom tension pneumocephalus (TP) occurred after transsphenoidal resection of a pituitary tumor. TP led to increased intracranial pressure and mental changes following the surgery. Management consisted of occlusion of lumbar drainage, placing the patient in a flat or slight Trendelenburg position, and oxygen administration followed by surgical repair of the leak at the base of the skull.
