Poststenotic Dilatation in Renal ArteriesPreliminary Report

Measurement from 16 renal arteriograms show that the lenght of the poststenotic dilatation is inversely related to the diameter of the stenosis. The diameter of the dilation and the distance to the maximum dilatation appear to bear no relationship to the geometry of the stenosis. Thus a long poststenotic dilation implies that a tight stenosis is present, while a short poststenotic dilatation implies the stenosis is mild or moderate.
