We mark the passing of the following: Sgn Ldr William Assheton dfc, flew Spitfire with 222 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and later PR 'Mossies' -Nov 4, aged 91. Wg Cdr Douglas Benham obe dfc~* afc, flight commander 242 Sqn during the Dieppe raid; then became an 'ace' with the unit in North Africa - Oct 28, aged 91. New Zealander Jim Dermody, Wellingtons to with 99 Sqn then Stirlings of 75 Sqn - Sep 3, aged 91. AVM Ranjan Dutt, Indian fighter pilot who flew with the RAF in Europe, later to high rank with the Indian Air Force and a director of Hindustan Aircraft - Aug 13, aged 87. AVM Peter Farr flew Vickers Valentia transports going on to Wellingtons and Liberators and many other types post-war, retiring in 1972 - Oct 21, aged 92.
