Oil output from the US' Permian basin could rise by up to fivefold over the next 10 years, leading operator Pioneer Natural Resources says, as producers pour billions of dollars to develop acreage where large tracts are economic at current prices. The Permian is already reasserting its dominance as the driver of US shale oil output growth. And production from the region, spread across Texas and New Mexico, could rise to 8mn-10mn b/d by 2027, Pioneer chief executive Scott Sheffield says. His firm is a key producer in the region.
