Dr. Carmine Gazzaruso is Head of the Diabetes and Endocrine-metabolic disease Unit, of the Emergency Unit and of the Center for Applied Clinical Research (Ce.R.C A.) at Clinical Institute "Beato Matteo", Vigevano, Italy of the Hospital Group San Donate His current research regards the impact of erectile dysfunction, genetic factors and endothelial variables on the occurrence of macrovascular complications, including silent myocardial ischemia, peripheral artery disease and cerebrovascular events. Other research includes the relationship between osteoporosis and diabetes, the role of patient education on the development of diabetes complications and miRNA in diabetes, obesity and cancer. He is certified specialist and PhD in Internal Medicine and ha a Master on type 2 diabetes. He was specialist and researcher at Scientific Institute of Research and Care (IRCCS) Maugeri Foundation, Pavia, Italy and consultant in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Cardiology at IRCCS Mondino Foundation, Pavia, Italy. He has the National Scientific Qualification as an Associate Professor of Endocrinology from 12 February 2014 and is Associate Editor of Endocrine from 2011. From 1997 he acts as a contract professor at the University of Pavia. He is or has been PI in trials on diabetes and in several granted research projects. He is authors of more than 80 peer-reviewed articles.
