Manufacturing technique for embedding detachable fiber-opticconnections in aircraft composite components

This paper describes a manufacturing technique for embeddingstandard fiber-optic connection hardware in aircraft composite components. Themanufacturing technique is simple and robust and enables trimming of thecomposite parts. Three different concepts for edge connections are presented.The usual problem with trimming composite parts with edge connections issolved by using polytetra-fluoroethylene dummies during manufacture.
