SCTP is a transport protocol which supports two multi-homed hosts and establishes a transport connection with multiple IP addresses. If a path failure occurs, SCTP can continue End-to-End communication by selecting another reachable destination address. However, if the peer is single-homed, the host cannot find an alternative address or change the communication path, so SCTP is useless. In this paper, we propose a device "the Multi-Path Gateway" which enables single-homed hosts to communicate using multiple paths.
