Based on the correlation plots obtained between the characteristic electrochemical parameters derived from the current voltage curves and the current efficiency values using the respective electrolytes, it is possible to identify the parameter that is playing a predominant role in determining the resultant current efficiency of a system. Such a correlation is not only useful in analyzing the role of additives in different systems but also beneficial in refining the selection of organic additives to be incorporated as plating additives. In this respect the linear sweep voltammogram and the current efficiency obtained using a simple electrochemical cell are serving as versatile tools in fundamental research on influence of organic additives on electrodeposition processes.
