The Three Rivers Project is a government initiative to develop catchment-based water quality monitoring and management systems for the Boyne, liffey and Suir river catchments. The rivers and lakes of Ireland are the source of 75 per cent of our drinking water, but the quality of water in these rivers and lakes has been in steady decline since the 1970s as Roisin Dwyer reports.
