SUMMARY.This article distinguishes, theoretically and by means of clinical examples, dreams and kinship metaphors, between five different kinds of psychotherapeutic relationship which may be potentially available for constructive use in psychotherapy. These are: the Working Alliance; the Transferential/Countertransferential Relationship; the Reparative/Developmentally Needed Relationship; the I‐You Relationship; and the Transpersonal Relationship. These five modalities can act as an integrative framework for different traditions (or approaches) of psychotherapy notwithstanding apparently irreconcilable schisms or popular stereotype
