The pneumatics market is becoming increasingly polarised by the demand for high technology products at one end, and basic low-cost products at the other. Steve Sands of Festo examines some of the key market drivers. Until recently, the bulk of the pneumatics market was for medium performance, medium technology products. But there is a clearly emerging trend that favours either higher technology or basic, low-cost products. This is squeezing the traditional middle sector of the market dramatically, and the pressure looks set to mount.
