Although injury of the intra-abdominal viscera is less frequent than skeletal injury in the abused child, there is increasing awareness that children with injuries of the abdominal viscera may be victims of abuse. Although other modalities may accurately identify the injured organ, only angiography and radionuclide imaging have the capability to identify active bleeding sites. This case demonstrates the utilization of this technique in a child with a documented retroperitoneal hemorrhage and a duodenal hematoma.
