Cyclorhodation of N, N-Dimethylthiophene-2(and 3)-Carbothio(and Seleno)Amide

Reactions of RhCl3(PBu3)2(PBu3= tri-n-butyl-phosphine) with the title amides (HA) gave the complexes, RhCl2(A) (PBu3)2, where the thiophene ring was metallated at position 3 or 2 to form a five membered rhodathia (or selena)heterocycle accompanied with amide-S or -Se coordination. Reactions of RuCl2(CO)3with these amides gave RuCl2(CO)2(HA)2except for N,N-dimethylthiophene-3-carbothioamide which gave RuCl (A) (CO)2containing a ruthenathia-heterocycle.
