On 12 April 2016 Chris Spilling and I were recording for the National Trust in a woodland strip on the edge of Godlingston Heath, Dorset SZ0184. On tapping some Piptoporus betulinus brackets on a birch stump we found, among a number of other species, a single specimen of Diaperis boleti (Linnaeus) and a beetle that was unfamiliar to me. I later identified it as Corticeus unicolor Piller Mitterpacher, new for Dorset. We returned a week later and found another specimen on Piptoporus betulinus on the same tree (but not on others, despite a fairly thorough search).
