Before discussing strategic or tactical planning, or planning in general, it would be useful to define a few terms that will be used in this column. While the terms are in common use, their definitions often vary with use. The meanings used here are, of course, arbitrary. It is helpful, however, to establish a common terminology applicable within the context of the article. If the reader chooses to use them elsewhere, do so with my blessing.
